Genre Analysis - Thriller
A thriller film usually appeals to both a male and female target audience of around 15 - mid 20. This is because, unlike an action film where the main protagonist is male and the male target audience is made to feel like they are them, a thriller film can contain both a male and/or female protagonist and there's tensions and suspense throughout.
Films like 'The Dark Knight Rises' and 'Nerve' are regarded as good thrillers because they contain suspense which appeals to the target audience.
